Preparing your space for an LED replacement project

Dining room prepped for lighting work: furniture under drop cloths, ladder beneath the fixture

LED replacement is one of the cleanest electrical jobs there is, but a little prep makes it faster and lets you make the calls that matter.

Decide the look before the visit

  • Color temperature. Warm (2700K to 3000K) for living spaces and bedrooms, neutral (3500K to 4000K) for kitchens and baths, daylight (5000K) for garages and shops.
  • Dimming. Tell us which rooms you want dimmable. Many older dimmers don't play well with LED and will need to be swapped.
  • Fixture style. Retrofit the existing cans and fixtures, or replace them outright. Photos help us quote accurately.

Day-of prep

  • Clear a path to each fixture and move anything fragile off surfaces underneath.
  • Note any fixture that already flickers or buzzes so we can check the wiring while we're in there.
  • For shops and businesses, tell us when the space is empty. Most commercial retrofits happen outside business hours.

What we handle

Ballast removal on fluorescent conversions, driver and dimmer matching, and proper disposal of old tubes and ballasts, which contain mercury and shouldn't go in the trash. You just pick the light you want to live with.
