Older homes around Modesto
A lot of the housing stock here dates from the 1950s through the 1980s. That means ungrounded outlets, backstabbed connections that loosen over time, and in some cases aluminum branch wiring. We'll tell you honestly what you have and what it's worth fixing now versus later.
Common questions
Can you add an outlet without tearing up the wall?
Usually. We fish wire through existing walls and ceilings and cut in a single box. In finished spaces you'll typically see one small cover plate and nothing else.
Do I need a permit for a new outlet?
For a new circuit, yes in most jurisdictions. For a like-for-like replacement, no. We'll tell you which applies and handle the permit when it's needed.
Why do my outlets have only two holes?
Those are ungrounded receptacles from before grounding was required. We can add a ground, install GFCI protection as a code-approved alternative, or rewire the run depending on what the wiring allows.
