Circuit breaker repair
in Modesto, CA
A breaker that keeps tripping is doing its job, but only until it isn't. RRJ Electric handles troubleshooting breakers across the Modesto area: we diagnose why a breaker trips, hums, feels hot, or refuses to reset, and replaces it with the correct type and rating for the circuit it protects.

Why breakers trip
There are three reasons a breaker opens: the circuit is overloaded, there's a short somewhere on the run, or the breaker itself has worn out. The first is a usage or design problem, the second is a wiring fault, the third is a part. They feel identical from the kitchen. We test to tell them apart, because the fix for each is completely different.
What we do
- Replace worn, nuisance-tripping or non-resetting breakers
- Install AFCI and GFCI breakers where current code requires them
- Correct oversized breakers that are protecting undersized wire
- Add circuits to split overloaded kitchens, garages and shops
- Replace obsolete Federal Pacific, Zinsco and Pushmatic breakers, or the whole panel when parts aren't safely available
- Tighten and torque connections, clean up double-tapped breakers
Common questions
My breaker trips every time I run the microwave and the toaster. Is it broken?
Probably not. That's an overloaded circuit, common in older kitchens with one 15A circuit. The fix is a dedicated circuit, not a new breaker.
Why won't my breaker reset?
Either there's still a fault on the circuit, or the breaker has failed internally. Unplug everything on the circuit and try once. If it won't hold, stop and call.
Do you carry breakers for old panels?
For most brands, yes. For Federal Pacific and Zinsco we'll talk about a panel replacement, because new breakers for those panels don't fix the underlying problem.
